Repeat Prescriptions
To request a repeat prescription, please follow the instructions below and choose the right option for you.
Please allow 48 hours (two working days), excluding bank holidays, for your prescription request to be processed.
Unless there are exceptional circumstances, we do not accept repeat prescription requests over the phone. This decision has been made in the interests of patient safety.

Ordering a Repeat Prescription
When you order a prescription online, you can have it sent electronically to a pharmacy of your choice. This is called a nomination.
The NHS App
The simplest and quickest way to order your repeat medication is by using the NHS App which links directly to your prescription record at the practice.
Owned and run by the NHS, the NHS App is a simple and secure way to access a range of NHS services on your smartphone or tablet.

Use Patient Access
You can order your repeat prescription online using Patient Access which links directly to your Prescription record at the Practice.
Online Form
If you’re not registered with the NHS App or Patient Access, you can request your repeat prescriptions using our online form. No account is required.

Alternatively you can submit an admin query and select 'repeat prescription'.
Your Local Pharmacy
Pharmacy Ordering / Collection Service
Pharmacies offer a prescription collection service from our Practice
Your pharmacy can also order your medication on your behalf. This saves you time and unnecessary visits to the Practice. Please contact the Pharmacy of your choice for more information if you wish to use this service.
In Person
You can order in person by returning the right-hand half of a previous prescription (the white half) for the required medications. Please place a tick by the items you require only. Alternatively, you can submit a handwritten request. There are post boxes located on the left-hand side of the main entrances to Bury Knowle or Barton surgery where you can post your request. Alternatively, you can drop of your request in the white box located on the left-hand side of the reception desk in Bury Knowle or opposite to reception desk in Barton surgery.
You may also write out an order for someone else but must include the patient's name, date of birth and requested medication.
By Post
You can post your prescription slip or written request to us at the Practice. If using a prescription slip please tick the required medications on the white half.
If you're unable to collect your prescription from the surgery, please include a stamped, addressed envelope for return by post. Please allow at least seven days if requesting your medication by post.
Medication Queries
If you have a query about your medication and need to speak to a receptionist or one of our pharmacists please contact us using one of the following methods:
- Submit a request online - this is the easiest and quickest way. It can avoid a potentially long wait on the phone.
- Submit a request on the NHS app
- Call us on 01865 597023 (lines open from Monday to Friday between 8:30am and 6pm)
- Come to Bury Knowle or Barton Surgery and speak to one of our receptionists.
