Global shortage of equipment for blood test

Blood bottles on a table

Due to the global shortage of blood test bottles we have been informed by NHSE that all non-urgent blood tests for at least the next 2 weeks need to be cancelled.

Anyone who needs a test for urgent health problems, will still get one but where your clinician recommends that it’s safe to do so, then you will be asked to come back for a test at a later date.

All routine, already booked appointments from Monday 6th September until Saturday 18th September are being rescheduled, the practice will be in touch via SMS or phone call. Please note a GP has triaged all those blood tests that can wait so please do not contact the surgery to query this unless your symptoms have significantly changed.

Given the nature of the shortage, we cannot give an exact date for when the test will be rescheduled, but please be assured that if your condition or symptoms require it, then you will get a test, and we will be re-booking your test when supplies become more easily available.

If your condition or symptoms change or get worse, please contact us as you would normally.
